big issue essay
The big issue is a magazine sold by homeless people to help the homeless for 23 years now, 200,000,000 copies have been sold since 1991. This cover of The Big Issue features the masthead as an encouraging question 'want a poverty fighting machine?' it emphasises The Big Issues' mission to end poverty. Also the cover line written/printed in an arrow shape indicates to readers to turn the page and it also points to hands that are holding the magazine, ironic since the cover line says 'it's in your hands' the anchorage sends a message that it is our responsibility, homeless peoples fate is in our hands. The intertextuality of the magazine cover can be seen threw the outline presented as a comic strip, perhaps for a sense of humour to show friendliness it also includes the colour red along with blue and white, The Big Issue uses these three main colours in about all of their front covers most ;likely to represent the British flag and that they're a British originated magazine. Sold by vendors all over the UK but also many other countries, such as South Africa etc.
